To define is to limit
Haven’t we all had those moments of asking others, usually our friends for their opinions on us.
“What was your first impression of me?” “What do people say when they talk about me?” “What aesthetic do you think suits me?”
Weren’t we usually disappointed by the answers?
“Oh.” “Is that what you think of me?” “Is that actually true, am I really like that?” “Is that all there is to me?”
Somewhere along the way, I stopped caring and no longer asked.
People talk and we shouldn’t listen. But how can we not when human evolution depended heavily on our ability to gossip.
We know how we want to talk, walk, act and be like.
We note down our goals
Sometimes on paper
Sometimes etched in our heart.
And then we meet people
Their opinions make it all fall apart.
To define is to limit.
So let opinions be opinions
Not weapons against our spirit.
Don’t limit your abilities by mere thoughts. Be willing to grow and learn.
Your potential is elastic, stretch it as much as you can.
Know what you want. Know who you want to be.
Mute all other noises, even the ones from within.
